Uganda currently has a cumulative total of over 2263 reported cases of Covid 19 and 22 death. Whereas ministry of health is working to decentralize all aspects of the response, the number of Covid 19 cases is increasing especially in Kampala district and the situation is likely to get worse in the slum areas. By carrying out door to door sensitization, Somero Uganda has reached to a number of people in the slums of Bwaise using the local language to raise awareness on Covid 19. Masks made by our tailoring students have been distributed to different people at their homes and to those working in the markets. A hand washing facility was put at one of the community safe spaces thou it cannot accommodate the big number of people living in Bwaise slum.
Somero Uganda is still looking out for funds to aid in buying tip-tap water cans, stands and liquid soap which will be put at different safe community spaces to help prevent the massive spread of Covid 19 in Bwaise slum through proper hand washing.
