Twase Women Development Trust implements a 12-month Community Gravity Water Supply Project in Kyaminyawandi, Kasese District, benefiting approximately 2,500 people across 500 households. The project will install 5 km of pipelines, a 10,000-litre tank and 10 water points, improving safe water access, health, hygiene, productivity and resilience.
Kyaminyawandi and surrounding communities in Kasese District face inadequate access to safe water, affecting approximately 2,500 people in 500 households. About 300 women and girls spend an estimated 1-2 hours daily collecting water from distant, unprotected sources. This reduces productive time and increases health risks. Approximately 800 children also face challenges with hygiene, sanitation and menstrual hygiene management.
The project will establish a community-managed gravity water system with 5 km of pipelines, a 10,000-litre storage tank and 10 water points, providing safe, reliable water to 2,500 people. Training 20 community representatives and establishing 10 water-user groups will ensure proper management, hygiene promotion, maintenance and long-term sustainability.
The project will provide sustainable access to safe water for approximately 2,500 people, reducing waterborne diseases and improving hygiene. Women and girls will save 1-2 hours daily, increasing time for education, farming and businesses. Strong community management will sustain the water system, strengthen livelihoods, improve resilience and enhance overall wellbeing.
