Bad Habits Affecting Your Eyes and Vision
A special online eye care class has been launched to help prevent myopia among migrant children. The program offers engaging, age-appropriate lessons that teach students how to protect their eyesight through proper reading habits, regular eye exercises, and the importance of outdoor activities.
By providing accessible education on eye health, the program also helped to raise awareness and promote healthier lifestyles among the migrant families. The childrean and their parents were asked to take the online class together and give feedbacks afterwards. From the collected feedbacks, more than 2000 children participated in the online class with their parents by side and over 80% of them felt that the class taught them something new and practical.

Eye Checkup
In 2024, we conducted the ‘National Eye Care Day - Eyeglass Wear Rate Survey Competition’, in which two random surveys were conducted among 403 3rd to 5th graders in the four project schools who already had prescription glasses, and a total of 22 out of 61 classes maintained 100% wear rate compared to last year. A 100 percent wear rate was maintained. In addition, for those students and parents who are already nearsighted but lack the correct concept of eye care, we conducted eye care group activities in each of the four partner schools, through interactive question and answer exchanges to understand the parents' confusion and misconceptions about eye care, so as to further target to help them learn about eye care and get rid of the misconceptions.

Eye Care for Migrant Children

Eye Care Group Activity
In the spring semester of 2024, we organized eye care groups at the four program schools, inviting those students and parents who are nearsighted to join. After a thorough survey, we found that they all sort of lack access to proper eye care knowledge. The eye care groups are something they will benefit from.
A total of 55 parents attended on the lecture. First, KidStrong staff learnt about what the parents were confused about through interactive QA session. Targeting these confusing points, the staff explained how to practice eye care in details with videos and presentations. After this activity, the parents understand why their children need to properly wear eyeglasses and how to protect their eyes in daily life. KidStrong staff will also stay in touch with these parents, helping them with eye care for the children.
An eye care knowlege contest was organized later in June. Students in the four schools joined the contest, and they learnt a lot through competing with peers, sharing results, and winning prizes.
