Philippine-based Dell employees went to Tacloban City on February 6, 2015 to do outreach activities for day care kids. The outreach is part of Dell Philippines engagement with Children’s Joy Foundation, Inc. (CJFI). On August 2014, Dell awarded CJFI as partner of its Powering the Possible for Youth Learning Program, a global initiative of Dell International Services, Inc. to reach out poor children and youth in the countryside through computer literacy. The year 2015 is another milestone of Dell and CJFI partnership to bring computer education to poor communities to reduce the IT divides among the youth and students in the country.
The outreach was the first of series of outreach events programmed to be conducted in 2015. The host day care center was Barangay Bislig Day Care Center, a coastal community located in the municipality of Tanauan, Province of Leyte (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanauan,_Leyte). CJFI’s assisted day care centers in Tacloban City and Leyte Province are target recipients of Dell Powering the Possible Youth Learning Program to help children and youth affected by typhoon Yolanda in Nov 2013.
The outreach is in line with the long term program of CJFI in helping the local government units (LGUs) be able to recover from the destruction made by typhoon Yolanda. This is in consonance also to the plans and efforts of Tanauan LGU for recovery measures being advocated by the Tanauan town mayor. We would like to inform you our dear donors that the day care centers that we built are all functional and serving more than 200 young kids since the opening of classes in June 2014. The facilities are expected to serve another batch of kids when classes open on June 2015 for school year 2015-2016. This year, CJFI will be building more day care centers to reach out more number of young children in typhoon ravaged communities.
Again our heartfelt gratitude for helping us be able to change the lives of these children to reach their dreams and become pillars in nation building.
Thank you.
