May 31st, World Parrot Day is a celebration of Belize's most iconic species, and the primary focus and first love of Belize Bird Rescue! Our $1,500 target will help provide essential care for chicks and adult birds brought to BBR between now and August. Celebrate with us, and help them on their journey to Fly Free!
Every year Belize Bird Rescue receives between 80 and 120 parrots. They could be orphaned or at-risk chicks, failed fledglings, injured or sick wild birds, or birds of any age liberated from the illegal pet trade. Their rehabilitation takes between 10 months and up to 9 years, depending on their age and their mental and physical condition. Every year each bird spend at BBR incurs an average cost of $500US
The majority of our intakes are through the baby season March to August. This project in celebration of World Parrot Day will help to offset costs of the 2022 chick season happening right now.
Contributions to this microproject will help to fund the care for chicks and adult birds brought to BBR between now and August.
