Dear Friends of ARCAS,

The GlobalGiving microproject Wildlife Rescue and Conservation in Guatemala was "retired" 15 days ago, and here we are presenting a final report on how the funds were spent.

With your generous help we raised $1751.41 from March to May 2021.  These funds were spent on the following supplies in support of our wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and release activities:

 Food (fruit, corn, ect.) $750

Veterinary medicines and supplies $750

Logistical support for wildlife releases (gasoline, food) $251

The breeding season for most of the wildlife in Guatemala runs from January to April, and the peak trafficking season is April - May, so we have received quite a few confiscated animals recently, including mealy parrots, red-fronted parrots, white-fronted parrots and capuchin monkeys.  For more information, visit our Facebook page: @ArcasGuatemala.

Like other organizations around the world we continue dealing with the Coronavirus pandemic. The infection rate in Guatemala has dropped and the government has relaxed restrictions.  We hope to keep the numbers low! The vaccine drive is beginning to pick up speed and we are hoping that this summer will see the return of ecotourists and volunteers to our projects.

The pandemic has been difficult for all of us, but it has been especially difficult for Fernando, Alejandro, Anna and the rest of the staff of the rescue center in Peten who, without the help of volunteers and interns, have been working long hours to keep the 500+ animals at the center healthy and on the road to rehabilitation.

Your generous donation has helped us keep the rescue center running by purchasing food and veterinary medicines for the animals. If you have any further questions about our programs and projects, you can contact us at info@arcasguatemala.org.

Please consider making an additional donation to the wildlife of Guatemala following this link https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/support-wildlife-rescue-in-guatemala/

THANKS!
