This microproject will help us build material, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 for more than 500 families in North Potosi (the poorest area in Bolivia) To do so, we Will do a large handwashing campaign and basic hygiene (personal and house), we Will build homemade water tap through used PET bottles, teach them how to make soap.
This families are facing the challenge to improve their hygiene situation to be able to face the impact of the COVID-19. North Potosi, is the poorest place in Bolivia. People lack of basic hygiene and access to water for handwashing or house cleaning. Those people live in a lot of communities. Spread in a large area where there is no easy access, only by foot. The local healthcare (really small hospital) has not the condition (staff, money, time) to do a good prevention campaing.
The SODIS Foundation, provides easy solution to improve health situation. The people are trained to make their own soap for handwashing and build a water tap from a recycle PET bottle. Some people will be trained more, to be "ambassadors" of handwashing. They will spread their newly knowledge to other communities. Doing this way, the SODIS Foundation is reaching more people and saving more lives.
The Micani community will have a self-sustaining improvement system. With our focus on forming leaders as agents of change in the same communities, we are already working in 19 communities of Micani with 412 families. In total there are 43 communities that could potentially be a part of this development in the future. With your investment in the future of these communities you can be a part of this transformation.
