We have five women survivors of domestic violence ready to tell their stories on camera. We believe that by telling their stories they can help empower victims currently suffering to reach out so they can live their lives without abuse for the sake of themselves and their children. Thousands of American victims in foreign countries suffer every year. These five American women who survived violence in Europe, the Middle East, the Far East, Asia and Africa are ready for their voices to be heard.
Victims of violence are often afraid to tell their stories. It can take years, or even decades, to find the courage to speak out not as victims but as survivors.Yet we know how powerful a victim hearing a survivors story can be to help empower the victim to also seek help and escape violence.
A 5 to 7 minute video will be available on the AODVC website, youtube channel and other outlets to increase visibility of the problems American women and children face overseas and the solutions the organization provides to help empower women to leave abuse. We will promote the video globally with the hopes of saving lives of women and children.
The project serves 500 women per year empowering them to find alternatives to a life of violence so their children grow up in violence free homes with their self-esteem in tact with the hope of stopping the cycle of violence in future generations.
