This project will build an Inclusive Vocational Training Centre for disabled and no-disabled youth in Maharashtra, India to empower them towards self-reliance.
According to 2011 census, total disabled persons in India are 2.68 Cr. out of which 78.26 lakh youth aged between 20-39 years are disabled. In Maharashtra out of 29.63 lakh disabled persons, 9.39lakh youth are between 20-39 years of age. There are hundreds of intellectually disabled and physically disabled youth in Khed, Dapoli and Mandangarh tehsils in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra, India. The disabled are neither skill trained nor do they have a job.
Sangli Mission Society is constructing an Inclusive Vocational Training Centre to train the disabled and non-disabled youth. First of all it will create awareness on vocational training and rehabilitation among the parents/siblings. Secondly it will discuss the process of vocational training and components of job with various companies in view of job creation. Thirdly it will make Persons with Disabilities self-dependent in related trades.
The project will train 30 intellectually disabled youth in three years and other 30 disabled and non-disabled youth in every six months to one year. This inclusive vocational training will create an enabling environment to reduce poverty and promote gender equality through a dignified earning and social inclusion.
