It costs The Nucleo Project an average of 1,000 GBP per child to deliver our programme each year. As a charity solely funded by donations, raising these funds has become even more challenging during the pandemic. With your support we can continue to provide an outstanding musical education to a child for a year, enabling them to fulfil their true potential.
The Nucleo Project uses music to transform the lives of over 330 children in West London. The majority of children we support come from North Kensington, a disadvantaged neighbourhood impacted by the Grenfell tragedy. We believe that all children deserve the same chance to succeed, whatever their background. That's why any child can join our project free of charge.
Due to the pandemic, we have adapted our delivery with 239 sessions a week now held online. We have also created a fun programme of performances and group activities to simulate the group playing experience of an orchestra. Our young musicians have worked so hard this year, with three of our students awarded places in the Royal College of Music Junior Department. Your support will ensure that our students' incredible progress continues despite the interruption to their lives caused by Covid-19.
We teach music because we know that it has a powerful effect on a child's overall development. Access to high-quality music education is a particular issue in our community where 37% of children live in poverty. Our free project is accessible to any child aged 0-18, whatever their level of musical experience and background. Our intention is to create opportunity, break down social barriers and inspire our 330 children to fulfil their potential.
