The sweethearts Foundation continues to inspire those around the world in making HUGE differences by doing something small - recycling Tops and Tags! Through the process we are cleaning and protecting the environment and providing wheelchairs to those who are less fortunate amongst us.
Here’s a sweet story of how our foundation inspired 6-year old Ella to be a change-maker and (WOW) we’re so proud of her!
6-year-old collects bottle tops for charity & does talks to save the environment
In 2018 we were very busy and concluded the year with our annual 12 Days of Christmas campaign. This campaign highlights 12 beneficiaries in need of wheelchairs and it takes an awful lot of planning and coordination which begins months in advance.
We were able to raise funds for 5 of the 12 beneficiaries (Henry, Gweneth, Geraldo, Nkonzo and Descent). At the moment we are busy arranging wheelchair assessments for them and we are in the process of coordinating their wheelchair handovers!
We still have 7 more beneficiaries waiting patiently for their very own wheelchair and we need your help to make it happen!
An example of a young beneficiary who is still in need of a wheelchair and desperately needs our help - Fiso:
Fiso has a wheelchair, however, it has aged with many welded repairs having been done to the frame, and the canvas is worn so this offers no comfort and support. Although Fiso doesn’t complain, he has developed bed sores from the wheelchair and is sad that he has not been able to return to boarding school, since his bed sores need to heal first.
A wheelchair perfectly suited to his needs and living environment will go a long way in making his life that much easier! We would love to give him the gift of mobility.
The Tops and Tags help fund the wheelchairs but the waiting list is long and some beneficiaries require very expensive customized wheelchairs - hence our need to fundraise.
Please support us and this campaign to raise funds for a wheelchair for our deserving beneficiaries, like Fiso.
Thanks for your support!
Yours in wheels,
Leigh
