The sweethearts Foundation aims to provide wheelchairs to men, women and children from South Africa in need.
The wheelchair is one of the most commonly used assistive devices for enhancing personal mobility, yet, thousands of South Africans remain bed-ridden, rely on family members to carry them around or turn to unsafe and uncomfortable home-made alternatives. Why!!?? Governmental waiting lists are severely backlogged; Disability grants are used by the families for basic items such as food, clothing and housing due to high unemployment rates; The families simply can't afford to buy a wheelchair!
We provide a wheelchair to those in need to give them independence and help them become an invaluable member of their community.
In providing wheelchairs to the beneficiaries we are helping them gain the freedom many of us take for granted! Past beneficiaries have been able to go back to school to get an education, or go to the clinic for check-ups, gain employment and simply be less reliant on others to get around. Donations will greatly supplement the funding received from our recycling efforts in providing these much-needed wheelchairs.
