This project will provide fifty vulnerable families of the Sunshine Children with a food basket of essential food items. The items selected are based on their greatest need and have been sourced from the local corporative store. Each basket will be for a one-month supply per family. With most breadwinners being casual workers, the COVID-19 has denied their wages. Having a food basket with essential food items per family delivered to their doorstep is only a small step in helping the families
With day care centres and preschools closed under the strictly imposed curfew, the kids are deprived of their daily nutritious meal. The Sunshine Charity will reach out to the families of the children who, with the support of the Sunshine field coordinator and village headman will deliver essential food items to each family.
A suitably composed food basket is critical to maintaining the nutritional status of affected people, especially when they are fully dependent on food aid. Each food basket will contain essential food items vulnerable families depend on and has been sourced from the local corporative store. Each basket will be for a one-month supply per family. If the challenges remain we will continue with the programme.
The organization has supported the welfare of vulnerable children living in the eastern province of Sri Lanka for over fifteen years. Providing healthcare and nutrition has and is a primary area of focus. Our commitment will continue even during these challenging times. By providing a daily meal will prevent the families from starving and provide for their nutrition.
