Challenge

There are hundreds of women who lost their husbands in the districts of Chittoor because of Covid19 during 2020-21. These women are either stay-at-home mothers or daily wage laborers/maid servants. Covid took away most of their jobs as well. Many women have no source of income and have been at the mercy of non-profit organizations for groceries, provisions and other essential requirements. Their children have stopped going to school and have been forced to work as labor on agricultural fields.

Solution

Your support will help us provide these women the necessary skills to earn a living. During Dec 2020-March 2021, we ran a tailoring training program for such women. More than 100 women got benefitted and have been able to find a source of income. We have identified another 100 women who are in financial distress. These women after 3-4 months of training will be able to find a source of income. We will hire a teacher to train the women on stitching clothes.

Long-Term Impact

This project will help many poor women from starvation, making sure their health and well-being are not compromised. The women will be able to support their children and other dependents.
