The Power of Tablets

By Alejandra Garcia | Executive Director

In spring 2025, thanks to your generous support, we raised nearly $700 to purchase tablets for our classrooms. With these funds, we were able to buy 6 new tablets for our Learning Center. Students and teachers have been thrilled with this exciting addition!

Since their arrival, the tablets have become powerful tools for teaching and learning. Teachers now regularly use them to lead phonics and pronunciation activities—essential components in helping students improve their reading fluency. With these interactive exercises, students can listen to a sound and immediately practice replicating it, reinforcing key skills that are often challenging to master.

But the impact doesn’t stop there. The tablets also support a range of engaging educational tools including Kahoot, ABC Magic, Write with Syllables, and thematic videos that complement lessons. For example, during our weekly Reading Hours focused on environmental education, teachers use short videos to help students explore new topics introduced in books—making learning more dynamic and multidimensional.

Before this purchase, our classrooms relied on outdated tablets that no longer played sound and a single small computer shared by many students. This limited access to digital learning tools significantly hindered our ability to support students at different academic levels. Now, with more tablets, teachers can adapt lessons to meet each student's needs—whether that means practicing phonics in a small group or testing students on reading comprehension using kahoot.

These tablets have already made a tremendous difference, and we’re excited to keep integrating them into our literacy programs. Thank you for helping us better incorporate technology into the classroom!
