This project will increase the productivity and sustainability of the farm at the Dayspring Home orphanage in Tamil Nadu. Currently home to 32 children, Dayspring Home relies on its small farm to meet the food and nutritional needs of the children. We are seeking support and donations in order to purchase new and more efficient tools and small machinery to help increase farm's yield and long-term sustainability as we enter the most fertile part of the Indian growing season.
Our Dayspring Home children's orphanage is struggling to maintain adequate funding to support the nutritional needs of the 32 children who live there. Ensuring their proper nutrition through healthy and wholesome meals (3X day) is fundamental to their success in all other areas of their life, most notably their education and overall health. The increased success of the Dayspring farm will ensure that these needs will be continually met in an efficient and sustainable way.
New tools and small machinery for the farm at Dayspring Home will help provide a more sustainable and reliable source of vegetables, grains, fruits, eggs, and dairy products to be used in the 3x daily meals of each of the 32 children instead of purchasing them on the market. The children will also be given the chance to safely learn how to to help and take part in sustainable farming and animal husbandry.
Many of these children have been abandoned due to the stigma and lack of education surrounding disease in our communities. By reintegrating these children back into society, we are building a better future free from prejudice and discrimination. These children have the possibility to be tomorrow's leaders. The increased success of this farm would add to the overall short and long-term health of the children by ensuring their proper nutrition is maintained.
