This microproject will provide educational materials for health- care providers involved in providing cervical cancer screening for the community of Adama, Ethiopia. The success of the cervical cancer screening project requires well-trained health-care providers. Creating a training video, manuals, and skills labs will ensure the highest quality of care for the women of Adama and surrounding communities.
Providing information about cervical cancer screening is critical. Training women to counsel women in the community provides a local source for information and education.
This project will finance the education of non-physician providers to learn screening techniques, procedures to remove pre-cancerous lesions, counseling, and follow up care.
The long -term impact of screening, treatment ,and education will be to significantly decrease the burden of cervical cancer mortality and to lessen it's effect on 3000 women, their families and communities annually. The project is specifically focused on rural women, HIV+ women, and women with disabilities. The development of a cervical cancer screening program will effectively link awareness of early diagnosis as critical for survival..
