Summary

Girls Education Mission International will set up an innovative model of sanitary pad manufacturing unit that will produced hygienic and subsidized cost of sanitary napkins to ensure affordability for all girls. Together with schools and communities, GEM will be distributing Menstrual hygiene materials and teaching girls how to manage their periods so they feel confident, stay in school and improve their hygienic level.

Challenge

Millions of women and girls cannot afford sanitary napkin mainly because they're manufactured using expensive machinery and thus priced at a premium. such women and girls resort to using cheaper, unhygienic alternatives that can cause virginals infections, skins irritation, embarrassing stains in public and also affects girls attendance and performance in school.

Solution

Girls Education Mission International will set up to an innovative sanitary pad manufacturing unit that will produced hygienic and subsidized cost of sanitary napkins to ensure affordability for all women and girls. Together with schools and communities, GEM will be distributing Menstrual hygiene materials and teaching girls how to manage their periods so they feel confident, stay in school and improve their hygienic level.

Long-Term Impact

The main objectives of this Project includes: 1. increased access to quality education for girls in primary and post primary schools 2. Improved Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) among girls. 3. Effective mentorship support towards personal and professional development of girls 4. Influencing policies and advocating with Government stakeholders to take the education of girls with seriousness and ensuring sustainability of girl child education and empowerment initiatives in Nigeria and beyond.
