Perkin Educational Opportunities Foundation, in collaboration with the Gloria Kriete Foundation, celebrated the first edition of the “2025 Student Project Fair” with participation from five schools in the department of Morazán, El Salvador.
Amún Shéa School stood out with its project, “AgroPío,” which was presented to a panel of five expert judges. The proposal was a chicken production model based on agroecological practices, using natural inputs and promoting active, immersive learning for students.
The five natural products highlighted in the project were:
Over several months, the students and their two teacher guides tested these products, conducted extensive research, and reached a clear conclusion: Yes, it is possible! The natural products not only fulfill their productive function but are also more economical and accessible. They promote food sovereignty and local awareness, and, most importantly, they equip students with real, practical skills.
At the “2025 Student Project Fair,” AgroPío won first place for best proposal, receiving a prize of $650.00, and second place for most innovative project.
Thanks to the donations raised through GlobalGiving and the prize money, the first phase of the AgroPío project is now fully funded. The next goals are to teach these best practices to other students at Amún Shéa School and to replicate their successful results in neighboring schools and communities.
Amún Shéa School is a leading educational initiative and a pillar of innovative and relevant education in Northern Morazán, El Salvador. Thanks for your continued support!
