Rwanda-one4one will provide basic school supplies to 24 young students as they begin another academic year.
There is no government-funded public school in Rwanda - families must pay all the costs of their children's schooling including tuition, uniforms, meals, and supplies. The ability to speak English raises the career prospects of a Rwandan child tenfold, strengthening their family and community, but many families simply cannot afford all the costs of school and the cycle of poverty continues. We will help families cover these costs.
With your help, we will buy basic school supplies for all 21 of the children currently in our education program plus an additional 3 children in a small village in northern Rwanda. These supplies will assure that the students can do their classroom and homework assignments. Being able to fully engage in their education will give them meaningfully improved prospects for success later in life.
Sustainable peace in Rwanda can only be achieved by rebuilding its social and familial structure along with its economic and physical infrastructure. Investment in women and children helps break the crushing cycle of poverty, improving the lives of families and strengthening the social fabric of Rwandan communities. Our mission is to invest in Rwandan women and children as a means to this end.
