Starfish's Wellness Program provides orphaned and vulnerable children with access to basic health care, including medical screenings and immunizations, education and counselling on HIV/AIDs prevention - a critical need. Our Wellness Wagon is a bright orange mobile clinic that delivers healthcare to thousands of impoverished children in rural areas throughout South Africa, ensuring their physical, mental and social health.
More than half of South Africa's children live below the global poverty line, and are dying from easily preventable causes like diarrhea, malnourishment and TB. Starfish wants to change this, and with your help we can. By giving to our Wellness Program you are bringing desperately needed basic health care to children without access to clinics or doctors, and ensuring they grow up healthy.
Starfish's mission is to invest in the future of vulnerable children. Millions of South Africans die from preventable illnesses, and Starfish believes a community can only be as strong as its healthiest child. Our Wellness Program provides access to healthcare and nutrition by visiting rural communities regularly to provide children in impoverished areas with access healthcare; antiretroviral medication and HIV education, immunizations, TB and HIV testing, and first aid.
Starfish is making a significant impact by partnering with 33 community-based organizations across the country, reaching 11,000 children. For over 10 years Starfish has been working with local community organizations to change these children's lives. We provide funding, skills development and training to our local partners to ensure that they have the capacity to deliver quality holistic care, meaning more children receive immediate care and have more sustainable ongoing support.
