Thank you so much for your support of Mr. and Mrs. Strauss, our ostriches! Although we didn't quite meet the funding goal, we raised enough to sponsor their food and care for the rest of the year and we will continue fundraising for 2017!
Both Mr. and Mrs. Strauss are doing well! We were able to renovate their enclosure in the past few weeks, taking out some of the overgrown weeds and adding more space for them to run around. We fixed up the gate to the enclosure and relocated their feeding area to give them extra space as well.
Unfortunately, Mr. Strauss is a bit aggressive and tends to pluck out some of Mrs. Strauss's feathers. We had to separate them for a time to allow Mrs. Strauss to regrow her feathers. She is doing much better now and have been able to reunite the couple, although we will be watching them closely.
