Mr. and Mrs. Strauss are two ostriches that DAKTARI rescued from an ostrich meat farm. They were going to be euthanised because they were two small but DAKTARI gave them a second chance at life! By sponsoring our ostrich couple, you will provide them with food for one year and help us maintain and update their enclosure.
DAKTARI saved four ostriches from a meat farm from being killed because they were too small. Two of them were released to another game reserve and the remaining two are enjoying having the large enclosure to themselves. The camp needs maintenance and the ostriches need to be fed daily.
We will be able to feed our ostriches for a full year! Plus, this will cover the costs of cleaning and maintaining their enclosure throughout the year. The children who visit DAKTARI will also be able to learn about ostriches.
A positive and clean environment with healthy and cared-for animals serves to push our impact on the children, and consequently on the community. Likewise, through the education of the future generations of the area, we aim to make a lasting impact on the local wildlife.
