Hello everyone!
Big thank you to you all for supporting my Sponsor Bike Ride. It was an amazing ride. We started in Bangkok and drove outside of the city to start cycling and went all the way to the Golden Triangle. Total distance ended up being around 950 km. We changed the planned route a bit to explore some other streets and towns of Thailand and it was well worth it.
I will not lie to you – some of the days were very tough. We had one day with a climb of 8 km and an average gradient of 15% about 2 km into the ride. It was tough, on another day I had to step off the bike as the slope reached more than 20%. It was a lot. But even harder were some of the downhills with the same gradients… Dangerous and very fast. But the nature and the scenery of the landscape made up for it. We started with thick jungle on both sides of the road but the higher we came the more we got amazing views of the different hills, rice fields, etc.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions we had the challenge to find breakfast, as most of the places where we stayed did not provide breakfasts. Often the only way to get some food was to go to the local market and purchase whatever was on offer. Sadly, also many of the coffee shops along the roads were closed due to the lack of Tourists but we still managed to find some wonderful places.
Altogether, it was a great ride. The group of riders was good, the roads were excellent and often empty. The weather was also very good – we only had one day of rain, but it was cold – some mornings it was only 12 degrees, which for Thailand is very very cold.
Thanks to you and many others we raised a total of 8950 Euro for the Tamar new building project. Thank you for supporting me this way and for helping us to get the new building financed.
Already, I am planning for the next sponsor ride, and I will keep you posted about future trips.
Thank you!
