Final Report- Spay and Neuter Campaign
Community dog being reunited with owner post spay
Hello Generous Donors,
Our Giving Tuesday Spay/Neuter campaign ran for 90 days and while we didnt meet our 5000 USD goal, we are very grateful for the $1700 that was raised. Thank you to each one of you for your donation!
As we sign off on this fundraiser and look forward to the future, we wanted to give you a quick update on how these project-specific funds are being used.
-WAG made an agreement with costings with veterinary clinic Vets+, who will do the sterilizations and hospitalize any dog sterilized for one week after the surgery to ensure they are fully recovered before going back home.
-We did a trial run of this with three dogs (2 female, 1 male) from a local farm. The two females dogs had already had multiple litters of puppies. Paci, WAGs shelter manager and who is coordinating all aspects of the sterilizations, picked up the three dogs, took care of them throughout the week they were in the clinic, and returned them to the farmers along with collars and vaccine cards. Paci also talked with the farmers about how to take good care of their dogs, and he will continue to be in touch with them to make sure the dogs recover well in the weeks following the surgeries.
-Following the successful trial, we will now be conducting around one sterilization surgery per week for dog owners in the sector of Niboye, where WAG's pilot shelter is located. Paci will liaise with the Niboye sector vet and other local leaders to identify dog owners who cannot afford the surgery. Dogs will be sterilized and receive rabies vaccination, as well as education and advice from Paci.
So thanks for helping to make it happen. Unfortunately we don't have great pictures but I have attached the couple taken.
For regular updates or to donate towards our daily operations, our main GlobalGiving platform remains open.
With love gratitude,
