Several individual donors stepped forward with direct donations to fund this critical project. After almost 6 weeks at sea the solar system components were received in Kakata this week. Our shipper was able to clear customs in only 3 days!
The components were transported by truck to Kakata and have been safely stored until the electrical team is able to travel to Liberia the week after Christmas to complete the power system installation. Although we have local electricians working on the site, our volunteer solar experts will be traveling from Washington state to install both the solar system used for basic lighting and fans, and the diesel generator required for the big medical equipment and air conditioning. All of the basic wiring has already been installed ready for these critical components.
This week the courtyard grading is being completed and the doors and windows and gates are being purchased and installed. The terrazzo floors are completed and cabinets are ordered. We are getting very close to completion of the new Medical Center facility.
