Restore Healthcare to 35 Villages in Liberia

We are working every day to improve the health and welfare of the people of Margibi County, Liberia with an emphasis on preventative healthcare for women and their children. While focused on community-based preventative care, we also run an acute care clinic from our headquarters in Kakata taking care of the immediate medical needs of over 200,000 people. This year we will finish construction of a new Medical Center, the permanent home for Healthy Women, Healthy Liberia. project reportread updates from the field
Equipping a New Kakata Primary Health Center

In December 2014 at the height of the ebola crisis HWHL made the critical decision to accelerate the construction of a new health center, filling a major gap in health infrastructure in Margibi County. This large, purpose built facility, once operational will provide comprehensive basic medical and dental services, including a secure pharmacy, labs, and imaging. We are working with the Ministry of Health for certification of the facility by the end of August. project reportread updates from the field
Keeping Kakata Liberia Safe From Ebola

When the local hospital closed and the government shutdown in July, our clinic was overwhelmed. Other health workers in Kakata ran away, but our staff stayed and continued the work. Since that time, as the hospital has reopened and closed a number of times, we have continued to build for the future. We have laid the foundation for a new Medical Center. With the help of a grant from Global Giving, we just recruited 10 new Community Health Workers bringing our total to 20. Looking ahead. project reportread updates from the field
Ship Our Truck to Liberia

We are working every day to improve the health and welfare of the people of Margibi County, Liberia with an emphasis on preventative healthcare for women and their children. It's rainy season now and our car just can't make the trip from our headquarters in Kakata to the 33 villages where we work. The roads have become rivers of mud. This project provides the funds that allow us to ship a new 4X4 truck to Liberia so we can continue to meet the enormous need for health education and care. project reportread updates from the field
