A Loafing Shed For Rescued Horses

Thank you generous GlobalGiving donors for supporting our microproject, Sheltering Our Special Friends! Our goal was to raise funds in order to contract with a local company, Shelter Sheds, to build one 12x24 basic loafing shed with overhang and one 12x36 loafing shed. Unfortunately, we did not raise the amount needed.  We did however raise a portion of the funds needed for this project.

In order to use the funds raised as frugally and wisely as possible, we have decided to build the shed ourselves. We will use the funds raised to assist in purchasing materials for a 12x24 loafing shed. A local carpenter who builds equine facilities has volunteered to donate the labor to help us build the loafing shed. In spring when the ground thaws, we intend to pursue building the shed. This shed will provide shelter for two horses.

The need is high for horses to be rescued and taken into sanctuary. Currently, we have three horses awaiting intake. We are unable to yet welcome them due to lack of space. We have already turned away four horses since fall of 2020. With the construction of this new shed in spring, we will be able to take in the two horses who are most needy.

We are so appreciative to GlobalGiving for providing this platform where we can link arms with donors whose hearts are aligned with ours to fulfill our mission of furnishing a safe haven for our equine friends. Your support helps us offer new life and a second career to rescued horses by giving them a purpose: to connect with underserved youth through our equine assisted learning programs.

With Gratitude,
