This project will enable us to purchase and erect one large shelter shed (12x36) and one small shelter shed (12x24) to protect our horses from the Colorado winter winds and snow.
There are 24 horses living on our property. 16 have either stalls or shelters to protect them from the elements, as Colorado winters can be brutal. Additional shelters will keep them all warm and dry during inclement weather.
By erecting 2 additional shelters, we will have enough shelter space for all of our horses. Many of our horses are seniors and have a greater need for protection as it is harder for them to regulate body temperature.
The project will support continued care of our 24 horses which are the heart of our youth programs. This project keeps vulnerable horses safe from slaughter. By using rescued horses in our programs, we demonstrate that we have loved the unloved which we believe builds trust in the youth to believe that we love them too. We believe that when a child or youth knows he or she is accepted unconditionally, it provides the solid foundation necessary for them to go on to build healthy, safe futures.
This project has provided additional documentation in a DOCX file (projdoc.docx).
