This project will build a three room safe space for girls and women in Mpigi district,this facility will provide various activities such as GBV management,psycho social support,skills building etc,the project already owns land strategically located in an area reachable by girls and women. A safe space for women & girls is a place where women & girls can go to at any time to feel safer and empowered and have access to information, education, recreational activities, support & services.
Evidence suggests that the establishment of women- girl-only spaces helps to reduce risks and prevent further harm during acute emergency responses. This safe space will provide women and girls with a safe entry point for life-saving services and a place to access information. This point will also offer them an opportunity to engage with each other, build important connections, solidarity and support with other women and girls, exchange information, and rebuild community networks and support
This integrated space will be offering a range of services including resources, information, social networks, to essential and discreet clinical care and sexual reproductive health services, also various activities such as: GBV case management, individual or group counseling, psycho social support, safety planning and risk reduction, skills-building, recreational activities will be available to girls and women from the facility.
This centre/ safe spaces will promote women's protection and empowerment and help mitigate risk of Gender Based Violence (GBV). Safe spaces can be a key way of building women and girls' social assets.
