Thank you so much for your donation towards Jean Baptiste's schooling. Thanks to your support, Jean Baptiste was able to start at Orp Care Primary School in the Rwamagana district of Rwanda in January.
Jean Baptiste is very happy to be returning to school. He has been out of school for several years so there will be an adjustment period as he reintegrates into academic classes and dorm life. In addition, because he has been out of school, it is not clear what is the appropriate grade level for him to rejoin. He is planning to enroll in Primary 5 (5th grade), but he will be taking the placement exam this week to make sure that that is the correct grade. Though it will be a challenge, Jean Baptiste has made wonderful progress at MindLeaps in 2017, and we are confident he will do well this year.
Orp Care is a boarding school, so in addition to an excellent education, your support has given Jean Baptiste a clean dormitory, safe food to eat every day, uniforms, books, and individualized tutoring. The level of change for these students is enormous: on seeing his dorm room, one of our students remarked, “This is the first time that I will ever sleep on a mattress.”
Jean Baptiste is also attending Orp Care with several other former MindLeaps students. We are so glad that, on arrival, he has an immediate group of friends.
On behalf of Chase, Carlos, and all the staff of MindLeaps Rwanda, we thank you again for helping Jean Baptiste leap into a bright future.
