Dear friends,
We are thrilled to report that we sent 115 girls to school this fall on full scholarships! The funds you contributed not only cover tuition, they also cover transportation, meals, uniforms, shoes, books and supplies. Our objective is to eliminate any financial burden on the family whatsoever, and because of you we were able to make this possible. 115 girls between the ages of 8-19 are enrolled at three local private schools. By putting all of our girls in a select number of private schools, we are able to closely monitor their individual progress and ensure that each one is getting the best education available. The private schools now depend on us for a significant part of their income and we are in constant communication with each director to ensure that our girls get the individual attention they need to stay in school and achieve success.
When girls feel supported, have a close knit group of peers, and feel as though they have a strong network looking out for them, they are more likely to stay in school. Eight year old Luismina says "I was a little scared to start a new school but I have all of my Mariposa friends with me and we go to school together every day. I have a lot of help and I am learning so much!".
When a girl remains happy, healthy and in school, she will marry later, have fewer, healthier children and earn more income that she will reinvest back into her family. Your support is helping us to break the cycle of generational poverty and none of this would be possible without you. Thank you!
Warm regards,
The girls, families, volunteers and staff at The Mariposa DR Foundation
