This project is aimed at facilitating reintegration of 25 orphaned and vulnerable children who are currently attending second chance education classes at Chiedza Child Care Centre back into formal school. These are the children who have dropped out of school due to various challenges including poverty and illness and are being supported through accelerated learning to have access to education. The project will provide books, stationery, school fees and uniforms for the children.
There is a growing challenge of out of school children in Zimbabwe and specifically in the Mbare community. This is as a result of protracted economic crisis in Zimbabwe which has existed for more than a decade now. The situation has been worsed by the impact of HIV/AIDS which has led to some children being orphaned. These macro challenges have led to households not affording school fees and some children due to death of parents have been found out of school.
The project will assist to ensure that children are send back to school and are assisted to at least acquire basic primary education. The money will be used to pay school fees, buy uniforms and stationery for the children who will be reintegrated into formal school in January 2017. The money will help children to be retained in school for at least a year.
