Baby Noor, an adorable child who turned 1 year old on June 5, 2022, faces a desperate struggle for life. She must have open heart surgery at the Philippine Heart Center in Manila in July to heal a congenital heart illness. The pediatric surgery center at PHC is one of the few facilities in the country capable of such a delicate procedure. Noor's parents, both school teachers, earn a combined $300/month. They must now raise $10,000 for the surgery to be performed.
Our intent is to save the life of 1-year-old Noor, a child born into the most impoverished area of Southeast Asia. According to the United Nations, the Sulu archipelago in Muslim Mindanao is the most deprived and under-served region in Southeast Asia, with one of the highest infant and maternal mortality rates in the world. The province of nearly 1 million people is serviced by only 10 doctors. Saving Baby Noor's life will send a message to the community of hope and peace.
By raising $6000 through our partnership with Global Giving and our donor network, we will help to cover the remaining costs of the open heart surgery with our Filipino partners and provide follow-up medicines and care, necessary to save the life of Baby Noor. This gift of life would be a small miracle to brighten the lives of her family and community and will emphasize our belief that "Every Life Matters."
This project is an international model of donor kindness and social responsibility. By surviving her dangerous illness, both Muslim and Christian children and their families will be inspired. For children living in dire poverty, the influence of violent crime and militant extremism is a constant reality. By working together, communities will be empowered to know that every life does matter and it is possible to succeed against all odds.
