As a basic needs bank, we are on the front line responding to the most vulnerable populations during this crisis. The COVID-19 pandemic is disproportionately impacting children, families and elderly who lack access to basic hygiene necessities. This project allows us to provide diapers, period products and adult care essentials to those most in need.
Before COVID-19, 1 in 3 US families struggled to provide enough diapers to keep their children clean, dry and healthy. With an average cost of more than $70 per month, diapers are an expense families simply cannot bear during this crisis. Women and teenagers living in poverty may have lost access to needed period products. Elderly afraid to leave their homes struggle with the inability to get incontinence products that allow them to live with dignity.
With your support, we are able to provide these hygiene essentials to our community partners who directly distribute these items to people in need.
As our partner organizations continue to have their diaper needs solved, they are able to save funds and plan for future improvements in their care. This can mean adding educational programs, offering better healthcare, medical procedures to increase adoption opportunity for the orphan, special needs children, improved quality of food (more protein!) - all steps that set these babies up for long term survival and productive members of society.
