This project will help 4-year-old Zhenia to receive special treatment that is not available in Ukraine. The boy has a chance to survive and he cannot lose it only because he was born in the wrong place.
Ukrainian doctors have been fighting for Zhenia's life for more than a year. After the last examination in Italy MIBG therapy and autotransplation were suggested to save the boy's life. Unfortunately, MIBG therapy is not performed in Ukraine. The Italian Clinic is ready to hospitalize Zhenia but the bill is almost 60 000 EUR. The family is struggling to provide the necessary treatment for their two kids as Zhenia's elder brother also has a health problem with his hearing.
Together with Zhenia's family Zaporuka Foundation has started a fundraising campaign to save the boy's life. We cannot stop fighting after so many hardships endured. The boy has great chance to survive and it is confirmed both by local and foreign doctors. After all the treatment the tumor is covered with a capsule and stands still, so this is the best moment to destroy it with MIBG therapy.
The ultimate goal of Zaporuka is to contribute to the approximation of the general level of medical assistance for children in Ukraine to the best world standards and thus to the increase of their long-term survival and their quality of life after the disease. Zhenia and children like him shouldn't lose their chance to live only because they are born in the country where the best medical practices are not available.
