During this time, Fundacion Maritere was able to diagnose several rheumatic patients, creating an opportunity for them to be treated soon. Through prompt diagnosis, we are helping patients to have access to an accurate treatment and by shortening the time, we also avoid a further negative impact on their mobility and quality of life. In Mexico, one of the main reasons of mortality among patients that suffer any rheumatic disease, is the lack of a prompt diagnosis due to non availability of specialists and mainly because low-income patients do not have the resources to cover analysis and lab studies. In total, eleven new patients were diagnosed with arthritis, lupus and osteoarthritis. They are now being treated in our Foundation with an integral approach (medical, nutritional, psichologycal and with physiotherapy).
