There has been a horrific surge in Coronavirus infections and deaths in India. The health care system is extremely overwhelmed and social media is inundated with pleas for medical devices and medications. This project will help OBLF a grassroots organization to create much-needed awareness in rural communities and mobilize people to get vaccinated. OBLF will provide home quarantine kits to officials and help the local hospital hire additional medical personnel to deal with the current crisis.
India is reporting over 300,000 COVID infections and 2000 deaths per day during a second deadly wave. The country's health care system is struggling to cope with the acute demand. OBLF possesses deep knowledge and a decade of experience in working with remote rural communities in Anekal. This project will help us educate and mobilize many more people in 80+ rural communities to get vaccinated and also enable rural public health care centers to provide better care to infected patients.
OBLF a grassroots organization can simply not look away during this crisis. 80% of daily cases coming to public health care centers can be treated with home quarantine kits that cost only $10/kit. $50 will print collaterals for awareness and buy masks for 300 people. $300 will help us set up a vaccination drive in a rural community and get 150 people vaccinated. A contribution of $1400 will support the local hospital hire a doctor and a nurse for a month which will save thousands of lives.
We as global citizens cannot afford to ignore this crisis that is unfolding in India. In Spring 2020, we provided massive humanitarian relief to several migrant communities and created awareness in 80+ villages. We hope we can count on you to help us make an impact once again in rural communities so that normal life can resume, schools can reopen and there is no further loss of life and learning. "We're all a part of God's great big family And the truth, you know, love is all we need!"
