The project will help kids with cancer to survive Covid-19 pandemic times proving them with necessary protection such as masks, disinfection, safe transportation as well as with essential medication that is not available in the state procurement as a result of coronavirus crisis.
Healthcare systems of the world were not ready for Covid-19 crisis, especially fragile ones like Ukrainian. Healthy people can stay at home and save their own lives as well as the lives of the others. Kids with cancer cannot stay at home because their aggressive disease can kill them fast. They have to continue treatment and protect themselves from coronavirus infection taking into account their depressed immune system.
Having emergency funds will make it possible for us to act fast and to provide kids affected by cancer with everything they need to survive Covid-19 pandemic times. Protection is essential for them now and it includes masks, coats, disinfectants for individual use and for surfaces, safe transportation to and from the hospital, etc. In addition, we will be able to buy necessary drugs immediately in case of gaps in the state procurement caused by the coronavirus crisis.
The ultimate goal of Zaporuka is to contribute to the approximation of the general level of medical assistance for children in Ukraine to the best world standards and thus to the increase of their long-term survival and their quality of life after the disease.
