The Mariposa Center for Girls is a beautiful space for the girls of our community to come and learn valuable skills that will set them off on the right path to become active leaders for social change. The facility contains space for educational, enrichment, and job training programs, and currently serves over 75 girls and their families. The organization is looking for funding to pay for the safe transport of the girls to and from the center 5 days a week.
The road is one of the most dangerous places in the Dominican Republic. The most common form of transportation in Cabarete is motorcycles that act as taxis, but there are countless accidents on a daily basis. The Mariposa DR Foundation does not want our girls using this form of transportation to get to the center for programs and needs a safe method of transport for the Mariposas.
Funds raised will be used to pay for a private taxi service that will pick up and drop off the girls in each of the neighborhoods in our community. This service will be reliable method of transport for the girls and their families.
By providing the girls with transportation, program attendance will be higher because the Mariposas won't need to pay to get themselves to the center. Additionally, this service will attract more girls to our programs, which will in turn empower more girls in our community to become leaders for social change.
