Dear Donor,
Unfortunately the lifespan of this microproject has come to an end. Despite your generosity our goal to raise enough funds to rescue one child was not met. Don't worry- your donation will still contibute to the larger cause!
The funds raised through this project will help reach the greater fundraising goal to rescue 20 trafficked children in 2015. Your donations will be added to the larger project to help fill the $125,000 gap.
Once we reach our goal, our implementing partner, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), will carry out the rescue of 20 children currently trapped in life-threatening trafficking situations in the Lake Volta region of Ghana. The rescue is followed but a 3 month rehabilitaton process with community partners, social welfare officials and health officials. Then the children receive 2.5 years of monitoring including food and school support to ensure they have access to education and are healthy and thriving in their new environments. IOM also sensitizes fishermen and parents about child trafficking, the harmful effects on the child, and Ghanaian law; and provides micro-credit grants to the parents to ensure continued support to the children and with the ultimate aim of preventing future occurrences of child trafficking.
Thanks to you this amazing possibility is a little bit closer to becoming a relaity. Thank you for your support to give these children the possibility of a brighter future.
With gratitude,
Danielle
