Chemotherapy rids dog of facial tumor

By Deb Jarrett | Founder and Executive Director

Congratulations! You have collectively contributed $3,743 towards rescuing 200 Indian street dogs. We wanted to share some rescue stories with you to demonstrate the power your donations have on the street dogs of Dharamsala.

Chemotherapy rids dog of facial tumor

Mickey was brought to DAR with what looked like a possible tooth abscess. On examination it was discovered that Mickey had a deeply infected facial tumour which has caused the swelling and the abscess in his tooth.

Mickey was put on three different antibiotics, painkillers and given chemotherapy. After about a month at DAR, he had recovered and was released back to the community.

Check out his story on Facebook

Senior dog stunned by hit & run

Ash, a senior dog, was found abandoned on the road, unable to walk, after being hit by a car. Luckily, he was discovered by some compassionate people who gave him shelter. They gave him food and water but he was in too much pain to eat or drink.

Since they knew about DAR's rescue services, they called and asked for help.

Ash is probably 11 years old. Older dogs usually have a harder time recovering but with within a week, Ash responded positively to our treatments and slowly began walking again.

All street dogs, young and old, are vulnerable to accidents and injury.
