Provide Wisly a year of food

A microproject by International Disaster Volunteers (IDV)
Provide Wisly a year of food

Summary

This project will provide a year of nutritious food for Wisly. Wisly is 15 years old and his dad died in the 2010 earthquake, leaving his mom to look after ten children. She couldn't care for them all, so she abandoned Wisly and two of his brothers at the HTDC orphanage. Despite this, Wisly is one of the orphanage's most out-going kids - he loves posing for photos. But without nutritious meals to keep him growing, Wisly's future will be bleak.

Challenge

As an orphan, Wisly is among the most vulnerable of Haitian children. There isn't an effective nationwide child protection service operating in Haiti to provide for his basic needs. This means that, without your help, Wisly may have to go without nutritious meals, leaving him more vulnerable to illness and less healthy.

Solution

By donating today, you'll help us provide the food Wisly needs to stay healthy. Note that the orphanage is home to around thirty children. Donations to this project will cover Wisly's share of the food costs over a year, but will be spent on all the children in parallel as we fundraise for each in turn.

Long-Term Impact

A healthy, balanced diet prevents illness and promotes healthy growth. By providing the nutritious food Wisly needs, you're preventing illness and helping him grow up strong!
