Thank you to those who have donated to our Dayspring Fire Disaster, we have raised a total of $631.58! This has greatly helped with our rebuild project.
Slowly but surely, Dayspring has been on the road to recovery. With the fundraising the Blossom team was able to fix a shed, rebuild the rooftop, as well as implement necessary renovations to the volunteer shed. The newly built shed now houses newly breed chickens and hens. As of recently, our team has expanded the chicken population and the shed really provides beneficial organization for our farm team to tend to the poultry farm.
In addition, we replaced the roof of the volunteer shed and it is now composed of 3 major layers. The first layer is composed of slabs. This is the main structure of the new roof, while the second layer is made up of woven palm leaves. The palm leaves will help keep the heat out and will result in naturally cooler rooms. Lastly, the third layer is made out of iron. This will help keep the water from the rainfall out, as well as prevent future fires to occur.
Lastly, the fire caused the volunteer shed walls to be stained from the charcoal. These have been replastered and look as good as new again. Inside the rooms, the electrical units are fixed and new ventilators have been placed.
Therefore, we sincerely want to thank you for your support in this time of need. With your help our farm can grow again and sustain it’s organic efforts with the necessary space, and it is again possible to host our incoming volunteers, providing them with a welcome and safe home.
