PROTECT NEGLECTED DISABLED CHILDREN FROM STARVING (#34109)

(A Retired microproject of Balajothi Centre for the Disabled Trust)

Report due on : Dec 25, 2018 - Report sent on : Sep 28, 2018

Total funds raised through this Microproject : US $505.80

During the project period of 3 months Balajothi Centre made two visits to their Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) program in Kolar Gold Fields, a small town located 100 kms from the city of Bangalore. The gold mining operations had ceased over a decade ago and the once prosperous town is now reeling under poverty and unemployment.

The program selected 20 intellectually challenged children, of various ages, from disadvantaged families, on the verge of starvation.  These children were in dire need of food and provisions.  From the funds raised through this microproject Balajothi was able to procure and distribute  food grains and provisions consisting of rice, wheat flour, sugar, sooji, cooking oil, clothing, footwear, bags and other essentials to families having the lowest means of earning a livelihood, owing to the difficulties posed by having a disabled child who needed constant attention.  This limitation  permitted only one parent to go out in search of  economic activity while the other parent stayed behind to look after the disabled child.  And almost all such families have single parents only.

As an immediate outcome the families were very happy that the children would have a good meal, for a short time at least, thanks to your generous donation of US $505.80 raised for this project. In addition, the children were provided with clothing and other essentials required for their hygene needs and healthy life.

It is a small beginning but Balajothi  hopes more such children could be helped in days to come.  Your generous donation will open a world of possibilities and opportunities for the economic progress of such families.  All the families and children conveyed their grateful thanks to YOU, donor, for this help and support which could not otherwise be provided without GlobalGiving’s fundraising platforms.

Thank you Donor, and Thank You GlobalGiving !!
