A microproject by Americans Overseas Domestic Violence Crisis Center
Vetted

Summary

Clover is a toddler that lives in fear with her mom Maya. Most days, Clover's father comes home drunk and angry. Maya does her best to keep Clover safe. We have been safety planning with Maya for a couple of months and should be able to get Clover and Maya back home to the USA soon. We need help to buy Clover and Maya airline tickets so they can escape and live with Maya's mother and father at home. Maya does not want Clover growing up in a violent home.

Challenge

Maya wants to come home and get Clover away from her very violent father. Maya never imagined her husband would be such a violent man. When they were living in the USA, sometimes he would get moody. But since they moved to France earlier this year he became progressively worse. We need to get Maya and Clover back to the USA as soon as possible so he cannot claim France is their place of habitual residence and file kidnapping charges against Maya.

Solution

We will be able to get Maya and Clover back home safety to the USA before Clover's father can claim France as their place of habitual residence and file kidnapping charges against Clover. Clover and Maya are only American citizens and they just want to come home.

Long-Term Impact

The project serves 500 women per year empowering them to find alternatives to a life of violence so their children grow up in violence free homes with their self-esteem in tact with the hope of stopping the cycle of violence in future generations.
