We are raising funds to have dance and theater costumes made for our annual Talent Show event in October 2022. Over half of the students at Los Algarrobos are sponsored and would not be able to afford to have their own costumes made. Having the costumes made through the Foundation also allows us to create collection that we can lend to students in the future.
Canoa is a small, rural beach community with little access to artistic events. Starting in 2018, our foundation began an annual event where students from the Los Algarrobos School presented dance, poetry, theater and modeling to the greater community in the town square. Normally students must pay to have their own costumes made. This is a costly investment for families who already struggle to provide for their kids' education. They are also unlikely to reuse the costumes in the future.
Making costumes through the foundation will avoid a costly investment for families and help create a collection of costumes for the school to use in the future. It will also ensure that the costumes in the event all look consistent and professional. Funds may also be used to rent sound equipment or anything else needed to make the event a success.
This event motivates our 100 students to learn and practice their art. It also brings an artistic event to the public free of charge for viewers, hopefully including hundreds of local families. Finally, we will be able to create a collection of costumes to use in the future.
