Our goal is to provide a safe space for women and children in Siem Reap. This space, a first of it's kind in Siem Reap is specifically designed to peacefully alleviate the trauma of their daily lives & will allow mothers to drop off their children while they attend counseling sessions & workshops. In the same space we are also planning to build an Early learning centre & playground for children age 3-5 years. In the off hours it will also be used for workshops & the community kitchen for events.
This family centre/ Krousar Sammaki is designed to help women who seek a safe space for their children and themselves while they think about their next steps - whether its therapy, joining a workshop or looking for employment. WRC currently operates 4 workshops a week on women's rights and gender, health, and financial literacy - on average 7 -10 children need a safe space to play. We will also operate an early learning centre for children aged 3-5 years old for families at a subsidized rate.
This comfortable green play area is designed for parents and children to relax and focus on putting their lives back together. Knowing that their is a safe space for their children will not also increase access to the workshop for single mothers but will also allow them to attend the workshop in peace knowing that they can focus on learning.
Providing information and education to women and their families, the cycle of poverty can be broken to enable brighter futures for Cambodian women and girls - enabling women's dreams to become a reality. When equipped with knowledge, women understanding their rights resulting in new found confidence and empowerment. This enables them to know how best to protect and look after themselves and make informed decisions about their own lives, and those of their children.
