Sara is an orphan and being able to go to school is a life-changing event. She is reliant on the care of her grandmother who was a very old woman, and cannot farm to earn income due to her advanced age. The grandmother has unfortunately passed away leaving Sara in hopless condition. Sara needs your help to keep attending school to be able to learn Math, English and Science and have a better future through education.
In the rural town of Gbawe, Ghana, there is only one free public school and it is extremely over-crowded with up to 65 students per class. High illiteracy and unemployment prevent many families from being able to afford other schools that charge fees and many children dropout to work. The literacy rate in Ghana is just 71.5% and huge gaps remain between literate men and women. Extreme poverty, illiteracy, and a lack of proper education trap many families in a cycle of deprivation.
The 2015/2016 school year, Sara was so fortunate and had generous donors to see to her education. Now the year 2017 is a new year that she will need a helping hands.
