In the rural town of Gbawe, Ghana, there is only one free public school and it is extremely over-crowded with up to 65 students per class. High illiteracy and unemployment prevent many families from being able to afford other schools that charge fees and many children dropout to work. The literacy rate in Ghana is just 71.5% and huge gaps remain between literate men and women. Extreme poverty, illiteracy, and a lack of proper education trap many families in a cycle of deprivation.

The 2015/2016 school year, Sara was so fortunate and had generous donors to see to her education. Now the year 2017 is a new year that she will need a helping hands. Below are her needs:2017 School Year Fees $700.00 School Meals $360.00 School Supplies $200.00 School Events $50.00 Home Feeding Support $340.00 Health Insurance and other Medications $150.00 Total: $1,800.00

Long-Term Impact

The project strives to provide quality education for the poor and ophan Sara needs to improve her health and social conditions, attitude changes and increased self-esteem, an increased sense of belonging within her communities now and future.
