This project will provide 50 Argentinean low income youth with online coaching so that they can improve tools and skills that enable them to take full advantage of their future opportunities.
More than half of the 3,217,000 young people living in Argentina's urban areas are affected by vulnerability, poverty or indigence. Around 756,000 of them are not in employment, education or training (NEET). 68.3% of them have not completed high school and even those who have finished it can't acquire the sufficient competencies and training that is increasingly required.
Youths are connected with volunteer mentors through a web site so they can develop coaching sessions and work on useful skills and tools. This coaching is expected to be a space for support, consult and reflection about each youth's interests, doubts and expectations. Mentors help them in defining their own aims and projects and getting the opportunities to move towards them. This project also reinforces abilities to use new technologies as a key tool for social and professional integration.
The project favors youth appropriation of tools and skills that empowers them to have more personal and professional options such as obtaining scholarships and jobs in the long-term. This positively influences their family and community, helping to curb the vicious cycle of social exclusion and poverty in Argentina.
